GALERIE WILMA TOLKSDORF is pleased to announce the new solo exhibition by Axel Hütte. Under the title RÄUME, the presented works reflect Hütte's photographic exploration of image realities. Instead of realistically reflecting space, Axel Hütte's works focus on the development of space as an image. The color inversion of particular works repeatedly breaks with the familiar visual experience of the reflected architecture.
Executed as a glass print on highly polished stainless steel panels, this reflection of perception and the shifted aesthetics of space are echoed and intensified.
An additional rupture is created by the works in the exhibition, whose real light and/or color conditions have not been influenced. The precise, abstract structuring of Axel Hütte's images again creates an irritation of the usual perception of space. In the juxtaposition, for Axel Hütte’s photographs “the usual ‘direction’ for reading images – from reality to fantasy – no longer holds. The inverted colors establish their own reality, and the realistic shot has its own phantasms”1.
