Makers Market

Categories:

The Makers Market is a pop-up marketplace put on by The Art Gallery at the Cesar Chavez Student Center which will run in conjunction with the Craft Fair by Associated Students Incorporated. The Makers Market will be held in The Art Gallery and the surrounding areas on the 3rd floor Terrace Level of the Cesa Chavez Student Center at SF Sate Universityon Wednesday, Dec. 5th (12-4pm) and Thursday, Dec. 6th (4-8pm).

Our semi-annual event celebrates the value of handmade objects through the heart of tactile commerce, and re-opens the marketplace to both the novice and seasoned “professional” alike. All vendors upstairs are SF State students or alumni.   Booths are spread throughout the Art Gallery and the surrounding lounge areas of the third floor, Terrace level, and space will be temporarily transformed into a miniature holiday fair, along with historic Crafts Fair downstairs on the Plaza level of the Cesar Chavez Student Center.  The event seeks to engage both the university population and local community in the appreciation of hands-on, do-it-yourself art during a season of gift giving, and will host workstations throughout the Terrace level to make your very own DIY gifts.

Maker’s Market empowers artists to shape their own economy.  By supporting these local, “microbusinesses”, small enterprises and independent artists organized by The Art Gallery upstairs and Associated Students downstairs, and joining us in actualizing this philanthropic, pop-up art market- you can actively create a more fair and economically sustainable world. Buy local, make art and feel good!
