Hayward Area Recreation District’s PhotoCentral presents the PRIDE: Parade, Prom, Community
The San Francisco Gay & Lesbian Freedom Day Parade 1984 - 1990 and the Hayward Gay Prom 2014: Photographs by Saul Bromberger and Sandra Hoover. The historic images of the Pride Parade and the joyful portraits of the youth at the Hayward Gay Prom show us a view of the LGBT yesterday and today.

PRIDE: Parade, Prom, Community speaks to us all as it overcomes prejudice, stereotype and judgment. Being gay is simply being human. Saul and Sandra show us our neighbors, our friends, our families. Their photographs celebrate life.

With the exhibition, there will be the book release of “PRIDE Heart of a Movement: The San Francisco Gay & Lesbian Freedom Day Parade 1984-1990” This book documents through the photographs of Saul Bromberger and Sandra Hoover a pivotal time in the history of the Pride Parade and the LGBTQ community.

There will be a reception on Saturday, October 11 from 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm. The event is free and the public is invited. The exhibition continues through December 6.
