National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is observed annually from September 15 to October 15, recognizes the presence and valuable contributions of the Hispanic and Latino communities in the United States. Started as Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968 under President Lyndon Johnson, President Ronald Reagan expanded and enacted into law on August 17, 1988 this cultural celebration to its current 30-day form. According to Richard Hart, Baterbys’ senior appraiser, “We are all very excited with this upcoming exhibition and we want to show everyone our whole-hearted support in celebrating the Hispanic arts and culture through this endeavor.”
Entry to the exhibition is a five dollar ($5.00) suggested minimum donation per attendee; children under the age of 12 will have the option to come in for free or also participate in donating. 100% of the exhibition ticket donations will benefit the Women in the Arts, a non-profit organization founded to recognize the work of women artists and bring education to the community.
