Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce the third solo exhibition with Piero Spadaro.
“Like a horizon, crystalline is measured by relativity and contrast. An origin story of sorts; where one comes from and where one’s heading.” – Piero Spadaro
Having worked in glitter and resin for over a decade, Piero Spadaro is no stranger to the baggage his choice material carries. Glitter in particular can cause scrutiny depending on function, age, gender, and orientation when used in unconventional ways. However, by breaking with convention, Spadaro works to achieve optimal light engagement in his work, taking it in and sending it back out.
Much like a stone that has been cut and polished to achieve brilliance, Spadaro’s compositions use similar geometry and patterns to attract light. These compositions also symbolize his pursuit to stay on the lighter side of life, especially after a challenging year. To Spadaro, this new collection of paintings act as a favorites mix tape, a survey of past moves with current clarity.
