Scott Richards Contemporary Art proudly announces the opening of their new San Francisco gallery at 501 Pacific Avenue, in the storied and charming neighborhood of Jackson Square. The gallery will open its doors with RENEWAL, an exhibition of paintings by Eric Zener, marking the artist’s first solo presentation in the Bay Area since 2015. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 4-6 pm.
RENEWAL presents a collection of large-scale, photo realist, oil paintings that embody Zener's profound fascination with the transformative power of water. Whether immersed below the surface or making their ascend, his figurative subjects navigate the ethereal journey between exploring the unknown and basking in the clarity of light in a manner that is both haunting and beautiful. "The sense of rejuvenation that we yearn for, whether it is ephemeral or long-lasting, is depicted in these paintings, with water as it’s allegorical vehicle," says Eric Zener, whose paintings are celebrated for their ability to transport viewers to serene, contemplative realms.
Both the gallery and the artist are excited about the opportunity to re-emerge onto San Francisco’s vibrant contemporary art scene as the city undergoes its own renaissance following the challenges of the pandemic. “I am invigorated to be exhibiting in San Francisco again after many years as the city itself is experiencing an unfurling and life is blossoming again." announces Zener as he’s preparing for his exhibition at Scott Richards Contemporary Art.
Zener’s works have been shown throughout the United States, Asia, Australia, Europe. His paintings included in numerous prestigious private and corporate collections such as: The Walt Disney Corporation, Burbank, CA; Miniatuur Museum, Amsterdam, Holland and the Alfabia Museum, Sumoto, Japan to name a few.
Scott Richards Contemporary Art has a long history in San Francisco having previously operated in Union Square for nearly 20 years. The gallery showcases American and European artists of international renown and will continue to promote its ever-expanding program through scheduled exhibitions at the new Jackson Square location.
"Renewal" will be open to the public at Scott Richards Contemporary Art from October 21 – November 30th, 2023.

Eric Zener is an American painter best known for his photorealist paintings swimmers, dancers and reflective water scenes. In addition to exhibiting primarily in San Francisco and New York, Zener’s works have been shown throughout Asia, Australia, Europe. They are also included in numerous private and corporate collections such as: The Walt Disney Corporation, Burbank, CA; Miniatuur Museum, Amsterdam, Holland and the Alfabia Museum, Sumoto, Japan to name a few.
