San Francisco, CA - October 3, 2024: Joe’s Studio Gallery 1803 Market Street, San Francisco, CA, presents the inaugural
presentation of “Echoes of Displacements,” a solo exhibition by Chicago-based
artist Michael K. Meyers featuring AI-generated images created without text
prompts. Meyers worked exclusively from pictures of family and friends in his
photo library, earlier artworks, and still captures from his videos for this exhibition. “After accessing my
historical artwork and using AI to blend them without prompts, the bulk of my library now consists of
image blends that proved powerful and useful in this exhibition.”

The show features 15 large-scale AI-generated artworks, with sizes ranging from 40 x 40 to 35 x 65.
Prints were produced on archival Hahnemühle photo rag using archival pigment-based inkjet
technology. Exhibition opens Sunday, November 3 with an artist reception from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.
The exhibit demonstrates that at age 85, Meyers—a legendary performance artist as well as an
accomplished painter and writer—continues to innovate. The results are works that recontextualize
Meyers’ lifelong reflections on culture, society, and his own family history. “I moved anything that made
the cut into Photoshop, where I think like a painter (I actually was one of those for decades). My mantra
was and remains, ‘One stroke leads to the next, and so on.’ I aim to create images that never existed,
and which move me. When an image works itself into being, I almost hear gears locking into place.”
