The Contemporary Art Modern Project is excited to welcome February with three new exhibitions running simultaneously from February 7th-28th.
In Gallery A , Light Speed explores time and space through the works of artists Liz Leggett and James Akers. Both Leggett and Akers work with vibrant color palettes to create abstracted organized chaos. However, their work diverges in creative processes and technique.Varying between mediums and layers, Leggett works at high speeds to create visibly expressive marks throughout her canvases. These quick but precise markings then merge to form elaborate works that can be scanned for hours only to continuously find new details to appreciate. Akers, on the other hand, is forced to slowly create his neon sculptures due to the nature of the medium. Glass is a delicate medium that requires patience and respect which Akers demonstrates as he molds the glass tubes to his liking. Akers veers away from traditionally commercial methods of glass production and creates unique sculptures that bend the rules as he bends the tubes.
Light Speed is available for viewing in our North Miami gallery at 791-793 NE 125th St. from February 7–28 2025.
Curated by Nicole Zambrano.
The CAMP Gallery is open Tuesday–Saturday, 12 to 5 PM.

The Contemporary Art Modern Project (The CAMP Gallery)
The Contemporary Art Modern Project Gallery specializes is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to raising awareness for emerging and mid-career artists with a unique emphasis on ultra-contemporary approaches to textiles and fiber art. Founded during the height of the pandemic by Melanie Prapopoulos, the gallery has gone on to create a distinctly academic and thought-provoking arts program in North Miami, and beyond. As a gallery, The CAMP remains steadfast in transparency both for the artist and for the collector, building bridges and connections from creation to acquisition. With a robust local and international roster, the gallery represents artists working in textiles and fiber, painting, photography, sculpture, and installation. Looking at art, as a whole, through a reactionary and interdisciplinary approach, the gallery operates as a space wherein creativity and reality co-exist.
