First stop at Rossocinabro Gallery in Rome this June, ‘Here We Are’ is an itinerant exhibition curated by Cristina Madini and Joe Hansen.
The traveling exhibition features works by artists including, painters, sculptors, photographers and video makers. The Rome edition will start on 23 June.
'Here we are' is an exhibition by Rossocinabro, which evolved through an open call-out and selection process and addresses diverse themes and ideas such as isolation and freedom during the lockdown, female identity, the relationship between existence and life, natural landscape and architectural buildings, human identities and a critique of the fashion industry.
The works shown here represent one common thread, a celebration of life. The artists selected are both emerging and established within their careers.
When we started thinking about curating “Here We Are”, we knew we wanted it to celebrate a certain strand of contemporary art that we have always loved and it is not always present in official exhibitions.
It has been an extraordinary privilege to gather together this collection of artworks that have influenced us so much over the years. They provide a portrait of contemporary art, in all its nuances, both exceptional and mundane, harsh and austere. It’s the spirit of those works – sometimes unreal, idealistic, sometimes unexpected, but always truthful – that has guided our June collection’.
Following Rome, it will be time for the Shanghai debut on December 1-10.
‘Here We Are’ is curated by Cristina Madini and Joe Hansen for Rossocinabro
