In 2022, a special issue of the literary magazine WORTSCHAU was published in cooperation with the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum (Ludwigshafen) on the theme of body images. Based on ten artpieces by visual artists (including Max Pechstein, Pablo Picasso, Allan Jones), 27 contemporary authors reflect - from a female perspective - on the male view of the (often female) body. How are body images created in and through works of art? "The representation of the human body is as old as the visual arts themselves. Whether in a religious context, as a portrait of a ruler or in historical painting: images of the body are witnesses of time."

Lecturing authors:

Johanna Hansen (author, visual artist and editor of the magazine WORTSCHAU) and Monika Littau (author).

Johanna Hansen and Monika Littau will be with us in the gallery this evening, reading their literary reactions to body images as well as diving into further reflections by other female authors.
